Slack
Create Slack App
1. In your Slack API administration portal, create a new App
Create a new app from scratch (consult Slack's documentation if you're unsure how to do this), or select your existing AppCheck integration App if you already crated one.
2. Ensure the Incoming Webhooks option is enabled
New apps may have Incoming Webhooks disabled by default. If this feature is not already enabled for your app, enable it.
3. Add a new webhook
You can have multiple webhooks, one for each channel you wish to send notifications to.
4. Select your desired channel for this webhook
This is the channel into which messages will be posted by AppCheck.
5. Copy the new webhook URL
You will need this to configure the AppCheck side of the integration.
AppCheck
Create Integration in AppCheck
6. Open the Integrations Hub from the main menu in the AppCheck Portal
If this option is missing, contact AppCheck Support
7. Select Slack
You can configure multiple integrations, including for the same target system. For example: you may have multiple Slack integrations, targeting different Slack channels, as well as multiple Teams integrations.
8. Click Add Slack Integration
Each integration will be associated with a single Slack webhook, and thus a single Slack channel
9. Populate all fields in the Slack Connections page
Slack channel names begin with #
For legacy support reasons the Slack Channel and Username fields are required, however their values are not used - the channel into which messages are posted is determined by the webhook used, and the username displayed on the messages in Slack will be the name of your Slack App.
10. Click Save
Your integration is now ready to test.
11. On the next page click Test Integration.
This should produce a message in the chosen Slack channel.
12. If the test message is successful, click Enabled.
Your integration is now ready to use.
Add Integration to Scans
13. In your scan configuration, select Integrations
If you have already activated integrations for this scan, you should see the number of active integrations here.
You may also see section labelled Integration Settings - this sections is for legacy integrations that have not yet been migrated to AppCheck's new Integrations backend, and can be ignored in this case. You can use legacy integrations in addition to new integrations, for example integrating with both Jira and Slack.
14. Click Manage Active Integrations
You should now see a list of available integrations, as configured in the Integrations Hub. Integrations you have already activated for this scan will be ticked. Your new integration will be unticked.
15. Activate the new integration(s)
Tick the box next to the integration(s) you wish to activate for this scan, then click Update to close the Integrations box.
16. Save your scan configuration
Click Update to save the scan configuration.
